Also known as the South Side Arts District, the South Side is home to a lot of Bethlehem's performing arts centers. While there aren't any pet stores in the neighborhood, there are few pet-friendly establishments including the Steel Pub which allows pets on their patio during sunny days. In the winter, the mains streets are decorated for the holidays, so you'll be able to enjoy a nice walk despite colder temperatures.
While most of the community consists of concrete sidewalks, roadways, and brick buildings, there are a few grassy spots and shady areas to enjoy. Many of the streets are lined with trees and a few have grassy verges between the sidewalks and roads. If you want to escape the downtown streets, Lehigh University is just south of the area and offers paved walking paths and green lawns away from the traffic.
By the river, there's also a trail you can follow next to the New Street bridge that will take you across the water to Sand Island Park. Here, you'll find plenty of trail space and natural foliage to take in, away from the busy downtown area. You can also relax and enjoy the lawns at Lehigh University, where there's plenty of space to relax with with your four-legged friend. It's a great spot to hang out if your pup loves meeting new people!
