Belfield is a largely residential community located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is roughly seven miles from the downtown area. This neighborhood is an eclectic combination of apartment complexes, standalone houses, and row houses. The non-residential spaces in Belfield include several churches, a daycare, several greenways, a grocery store, and access to public transportation. Immediately surrounding Belfield, you will find several restaurants, La Salle University, the Museum of Nursing History, and several other businesses. Due to the proximity of La Salle University, many of the local apartment complexes and rental properties are rented out by current college students. Unfortunately, there are no pet-related businesses in Belfield or the surrounding areas.

Belfield and the rest of Philadelphia distinctly experience all four seasons. Winter months can be cold, windy, and come with plenty of snowfall. Summer months can vary as some are more humid than others, but you are gaurunteed plenty of hot, sunny days.

Historically, Belfield used to be part of Charles Willson Peale's estate. Peale was a painter during the American Revolution, known for his paintings of revolutionary leaders like George Washington and Alexander Hamilton. The estate had spacious gardens and grounds, but sadly, modern Belfield has largely artificial terrain. Thankfully, there are a few greenways that seek to recapture the land's historical use! If you and Fido aren't exploring one of the greenways, this urban neighborhood does have plenty of sidewalks, so at least you and your pup will remain safe and away from traffic. Either way, while you're walking around, you may experience a few significant changes in elevation as Belfield is a bit of a hilly neighborhood.

The borders of Belfield include West Godfrey Avenue to the north, Ogontz Avenue to the east, Chew Avenue to the south, and Wister Street to the west.

While there are only two greenways located within the boundaries of Belfield, there are plenty of other greenways within walking distance of this neighborhood. The first greenway is Belfield Playground, a large space associated with Belfield Recreation Center. Most of this outdoor space is composed of various sports fields and courts. The second Belfield greenway is Harpers Hollow Park which is a more natural wooded area that has not been manicured. There is a paved, shaded path around this greenway.

Other nearby greenways include Wister Woods Park, Wakefield, Awbury Park, Fisher Park, Cherashore Park, Blue Bell Park, and Kemble Park. Many of these are small playgrounds and greenways, but a few are larger spaces with walking trails for you and Fido to explore. The nearest off-leash area is less than three miles to the west of the neighborhood's boundaries. Clifford Dog Park can be found on the western side of Clifford Park and off of Wissahickon Avenue.
