The terrain here is mostly flat and boring. There isn’t much choice when it comes to walking with Rufus. However, before you start worrying about the flat terrain being no fun to take your daily walks on, try putting your creative mind to work. With so many residential blocks to choose from, your walks should never be boring! You could print out a map and choose your routes on a daily basis. The idea is to vary your walks as much as you can. The more variety you can build into your walks, the more fun they will be.

Keep in mind that the pavement here can be cold enough to cause Rufus to have frost-bitten toes in the winter when they are covered in ice. If Rufus is still a pup, now is the perfect time to get used to walking in booties! They can also come in handy for those rainy days.

There are several small parks in the community along with the Awbury Arboretum and Agricultural Village where there are acres of grass for you and Rufus to spend time playing and romping around. Awbury Park adds even more grass to the area and more space for the two of you to have fun in. The Arboretum covers 55 acres and includes English romantic style landscaping and plenty of trails, ponds, meadows, rolling hills, and woods for the two of you to enjoy.

Wissahickon Park offers miles offers miles of shady tree-lined trails for you and Rufus to hike along with numerous play areas for the two of you to explore together. The park sits in a gorge and covers over 1,800 acres following the Wissahickon Creek as it drops over 100 feet before joining the Schuylkill River. Your journey along the trails will take you across stone bridges that date back to the days of the WPA era.
