Wag! Walkers know Pennypack
Pennypack is a small, mainly residential community in Northeast Philadelphia. Named after the expansive park and creek that makes up its western border, Pennypack is very much a walking neighborhood, so you'll find that you and your pet will love a stroll in the area. There are many different curving roads surrounded by apartments and homes offering a peaceful and relaxing place for a stroll. With a large park, residential communities, and a retail area, Pennypack's landscape changes wherever you go.

To the northwest, you'll find Roosevelt Boulevard and Welsh Road, the location of most of Pennypack's businesses and restaurants. You'll find Pet Valu and another pet supply store nearby, situated in strip malls along Roosevelt Boulevard. Grant Avenue Pet Grooming lies north of Roosevelt, closer to more of the local businesses. The Boulevard Animal Hospital is nearby as well, in case of emergency.
What is the terrain like in Pennypack?
Pennypack resembles more of a suburb than a part of a city. You'll find many green lawns, lots of trees, and space to walk around without many crowds. The streets are mostly flat, especially the long, busy roads such as Roosevelt Boulevard. However, you will find some inclines here and there and Pennypack Park has a few hills itself. If you plan on going for a long walk, be sure to wear comfy shoes!

The neighborhood is bordered to the east by the Northeast Philadelphia Airport. While it's not quite as busy as Philadelphia International Airport, planes do take off and land there fairly frequently. If your pup isn't fond of loud noises, consider avoiding northeastern Pennypack. In addition, though the area is very residential, there are several busy roads. Roosevelt Boulevard is a multi-lane road with medians, so take extra caution when crossing the road.
How many greenways are there in Pennypack?
While there are many sprawling lawns and grassy spots to stop during your walk in Pennypack, the only named park in the community is Pennypack Park. The park, which follows Pennypack Creek, spans about 1,600 acres, so you can definitely spend all day there! With so much space, the park offers just about everything a park can offer from hiking and biking trails to playgrounds and picnic areas. Since the park is very large, it's important to look at a map beforehand if you're not familiar with the area and plan out what you're going to do.

While there aren't any dog parks in the immediate area, Pennypack Park still offers miles and miles of hiking trails, perfect for wilderness-loving dogs. If you don't want to visit Pennypack Park, there is a small playground northeast that borders the airport. In addition, Holme Crispin Park to the southeast offers a foray into the natural Pennsylvania setting.
