Be sure to check the weather before heading out with your pet. Philadelphia sees all four seasons with the summer and winter months bringing drastic temperatures. Try to walk your pup in the morning during the summer before the sun heats up the sidewalks which could harm your pup's little paws. In the winter, head out during a sunny afternoon when it's less icy and a bit warmer.
There is a lot for you and your pup to explore in Wynnefield. Head to the SJU campus to meet some students studying on the grass or get lost in the neighborhood's suburban-style blocks. You'll find most of the streets are very quiet, but a lot of the roads can become busy. Always stay cautious when crossing the street and keep your pet on a tight leash to stay on narrow sidewalks and away from traffic.
Wynnefield also has easy access to West Fairmount Park, one of Philadelphia's largest parks. This 1,400-acre piece of land is home to a museum, a Japanese Garden, the Philadelphia Zoo, and more. You can take your pet for a hike on the park's miles and miles of trails, visit the athletic fields and playgrounds, or spend some time at Concourse Lake. With so much to do, your pooch will surely be in heaven!
