While they want to combat any and all stains that their furry friends leave around the place, they are also keen for there to be no fragrant evidence that a cleaning product was used either.
Zero Odor Pet Stain Remover
Why Wag! loves Zero Odor Pet Stain Remover Spray
- It does what it says it will, promising that it is good enough to work even on skunk-level stinks
- It will get rid of almost anything organic — vomit, blood, urine, feces…
- It can be used on a multitude of surfaces as well as clothes and kennels
Considerations & concerns
- Some pet parents inevitably have complained that the spray does not in fact remove the odor, and that it smells like bleach
- For some people it may be a little on the pricey end of the spectrum
Skout's Honor Laundry Booster
Why Wag! loves Skout’s Honor Laundry Booster
- Its price makes it a fantastically affordable option for most people
- Unsurprisingly, it also works on bed linen
- The packaging is biodegradable
- When Skout’s Honor sell a bottle, they give a shelter animal a day’s worth of food
- And the product has a fantastic name
Considerations & concerns
- You can’t use it on leather, silk, or natural materials — which some pet parents may only find out once it’s too late
- It’s a little more expensive than some other options
- There is a chance it may slightly discolor some of your clothes
After you call the vet you may want to apply the pet stain remover considered the best on the market when it comes to pet puke stains — which is The PetSafe Liquid-Ate Enzyme Cleaner.
Though this might be a little bit more expensive than some, it comes highly recommended as attacking the root of the odor and stain problem, not just the symptoms.
Petsafe Liquid Ate Odor & Stain Remover
Why Wag! loves PetSafe Liquid-Ate Enzyme Cleaner
- The formula is free of chemicals and won’t irritate your furry friend’s skin
- It’s also a ‘toilet trainer’, intended to train pets to stay away from certain areas of the house or garden when they are doing their business
- And the package is biodegradable
Considerations & concerns
- It’s a little on the pricey side
- You can use it on your clothes as much as you like but not in the washing machine. So if you thought ‘I’ll just spray this pukey jumper and throw it in the wash’, that’s not an option
Eliminating messes with its bio-enzymatic formula, this feeds on the ammonia crystals in spillages like urine until the stain has completely dissolved totally.
Rocco & Roxie Stain & Odor Eliminator
Why Wag! loves Rocco and Roxie Professional Strength Pet Stain and Odor Eliminator
- It’s particularly good at getting rid of urine smells and mess
- It isn’t a huge conglomerate that makes this product — it’s a family in the USA
- It isn’t just good for carpets; you can only use it on carriers, bedding and a variety of furniture
Considerations & concerns
- This is a slightly more expensive option than some
- Though it claims to be ‘pleasant-smelling’, many pet parents have complained about the odor of the product itself
- It is also worth pointing out that a huge number of fake reviews appear on Chewy for this product, praising it highly in suspiciously similar language
So which does the best job? It looks like it’s the Nature’s Miracle Platinum Stain and Odor Remover and Virus Disinfectant, which works equally well for dog and cat mess alike.
Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Eliminator
Why Wag! loves Nature’s Miracle Platinum Stain and Odor Remover
- The virus disinfectant in this product purports to eliminate 99.9% of the viruses that dog feces bring to the table (or the carpet)
- The spray bottle is extremely easy to use, making it difficult for even the most confused of pet parents not to work out
- Though this is true of plenty of brands, it’s great that you can use it whether you have a dog or a cat, or indeed both
Considerations and concerns
- Should you want to mix it with vinegar or other cleaning products that are acidic in nature, you’ll be disappointed — you can’t
- The added fragrance (citrus in this case) can be off putting for some people — and some pet parents say that the more recent version smells worse than the previous version
- Pet parents have complained that they were misled into thinking there would be a sprayer included; without it, the product is quite inconvenient
