Keep in mind that Abilene weather can be a bit warm, humid, and hard to manage, especially in the summer months. Be prepared to stay hydrated during your daily outings. The good news is that winters are much more mild and ideal for those who aren't fans of ice and sleet.
This area is also extremely flat due to its location in west Texas which is not known for being fairly hilly. It is very rare to find any hills areas aside from the nearby Abilene State Park. Although this does not make this location ideal for hikers who are ready and looking for more opportunities for high-intensity exercise, the quaint surroundings can be perfect for those who are much more into relaxing strolls and easy-going jaunts down sidewalks and across lawns.
One of the more unique options is the exciting Play Faire Park. This park features two mini-golf courses, as well as a stage for live entertainment. Another exciting inclusion to the area is Scarborough Park. This very fun, family-friendly park features a massive water playground too!
Finally, one of the most unique parks in the area is the Adamson-Spalding Storybook Garden. This beautiful series of statues was created as a celebration of reading. It features nice walking trails and beautiful views of downtown Abilene.
