Windsor Road is a residential neighborhood located on the northwest side of Austin, Texas. The neighborhood has some restaurants and pubs on its northern border and there are commercial areas to the east, although Shoal Creek forms a barrier in that direction and must be crossed where roads with sidewalks cross the natural waterway.

The weather in Austin is warm and sunny with spring and fall temperatures being moderate. Thunderstorms do occur in spring and into the summer and can be severe. Pedestrians should be aware of imminent severe weather before venturing out with their pets. Winter temperatures are fairly mild and freezing temperatures are rare. Icy conditions can occur when the temperatures drops, so avoid icy surfaces that can result in falls. Summer days can see very hot temperatures which can result in heat-related illnesses. Avoid excessive exercise when the temperature climbs and keep you and your dog sheltered from the sun and well hydrated.

Windsor Road is situated on the east side of Highway 1 and extends to the north and south. This neighborhood is mostly residential with single-family homes. Homes in the area date back to the mid-20th century and reflect the architectural style of that time. Residential properties are attractive and well landscaped with green lawns and large trees.

There is some commercial activity on the busy thoroughfare on the north side of the community. The freeway on the west side forms an impediment to on foot travel in that direction and high speed traffic and noise should be avoided.

The terrain in the Windsor Road area is mostly level with some gentle inclines that do not present an issue for pedestrians walking their pets. Sidewalks are present in many residential areas, however, some roads are devoid of separate walkways. When sharing the road with traffic, walk on the right side of the road and be vigilant for cars.

Pease Park is located on Shoal Creek and offers a large greenway along the waterway with lots of trees and some open areas. There is a disc golf course located here along with the Shoal Creek Trail which extends north to the Shoal Creek greenway. This trail is 4.4 miles in length, relatively level, and hard surfaced. Dogs are allowed if on a leash. Cyclists also frequent the trail, so watch out for traffic. The trail crosses the creek in several places and runs through a small rock canyon with overhangs, so watch your head!

Other small neighborhood parks abound in the area including Ramsey Park on the north which has a swimming pool, sports facilities, and fields for locals to enjoy.
