Located in West Dallas, Eagle Ford is an older residential neighborhood with many businesses, churches, schools, and a recreation center within walking distance for area residents. Restaurants, shops, and other services are concentrated along Singleton Boulevard on the south border and Bernal Drive. Local grocers are located on Gallagher Street.

Eagle Ford dog walkers are in for some hot weather when strolling with their pups as the mercury soars in summer and heat-related illnesses can be an issue if you and your dog do not drink enough water or are overexposed to direct sun. Seek shade, stay hydrated, take breaks, and do not overexert yourselves when it is extremely hot out. Watch out for severe thunderstorms, especially in the spring, by checking daily forecasts so you can plan your outings with your pup accordingly. Winters are relatively mild, but freezing rain can occur and makes walking surfaces slick. Have footwear with good traction or wait until icy surfaces melt.

Eagle Ford is dominated by moderately-sized, older, single-family homes. The West Trinity River Branch borders the district on the northwest side and flows into the Trinity River which flows along the north border of Eagle Ford. There are several creeks running through the community that connects with the larger watercourses. Creeks and rivers in the region have associated ravines and natural areas providing plenty of natural green space and coupled with thick mature landscaping on residential properties, the area has a country-suburban-like feel.

The Twin Wells Golf Course provides a more manicured green area on the northwest side of the community. Most streets have sidewalks and grass berms and are well shaded, providing cool footing and a pleasant place to walk with your pup. Some streets do not have sidewalks, but wide grassy berms still provide safe, cool footing. The terrain is relatively flat with some inclines, although none that significantly hamper pedestrian travel.
