Wag! Walkers know Knox/Henderson
Also known as Knox Park, Knox Henderson is renowned as one of Dallas' most walkable neighborhoods, making it the perfect place for a walk with Fido. Much of the area features a variety of restaurants, bars, and shops. There is a Pet Supplies Plus outlet along Greenville Avenue and there are also several animal hospitals in the neighborhood. The Vickery Animal Hospital and VCA Katy Trail Animal Hospital are in the center of Knox Henderson and Highland Park Animal Hospital is to the north.

Knox Henderson is a very walkable area and encourages everyone to head outside for a walk. To get the most out of your walk with Fido, check the weather before going outside. Dallas has seen summer heat waves and severe spring thunderstorms and you definitely don't want to be caught in one of those. Try to plan morning walks in the summer before it gets too hot and watch the radar for potential storms.
What is the terrain like in Knox/Henderson?
Like most of Dallas, Knox Henderson boasts flat streets, making for an easy walk through town, especially if your pet is older and tires quickly. If you want to stay near the retail and dining areas, try to stay on one side of Route 75. The area west of the highway is comprised mostly of stores and restaurants on quieter streets. There are few dog-friendly restaurants here if you want to stop for a bite to eat. Many of the roads in this area are calmer and the sidewalks are set a little bit away from the road.

You can cross over the highway at Knox Street to find more places to discover, but this bridge is a little busy. Keep your pet on a tight leash and stay aware of passing traffic when crossing this road. In the eastern part of the neighborhood, Greenville Avenue features wide sidewalks along businesses, perfect for some window shopping.
How many greenways are there in Knox/Henderson?
Along with many places to dine and shop, Knox Henderson offers a great amount of green space to discover. The neighborhood offers very easy access to Katy Trail, a railroad-turned-walking path that welcomes pets of all sizes, as long as they're on a leash. This paved path spans 3.5 miles, making it ideal for a long walk away from city sidewalks.

The Katy Trail also offers access to several parks along the way. Glencoe Park features a playground and shady spots to rest and Abbott Park is a small space also perfect for some relaxation. Other city escapes in Knox Henderson include Cochran Park, a sprawling greenway with a playground and plenty of grass for rest. If you're willing to venture out of the neighborhood, you can head west to Lakeside Park where you'll find trails that follow Turtle Creek, giving you scenic water views and the chance to explore the natural setting.
