L.O. Daniel is part of the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. Located in the southeast section of the city, the district is named for a local businessman who moved to the area in 1890 and was active in local industry and the community. Primarily residential, L.O. Daniel has many businesses accessible along Hampton Road which is located on the east side of the neighborhood.
The temperature in Dallas does not often go below freezing and warm winter clothing is not a necessity. A few episodes of freezing rain may occur each winter and, although short lived, they make pedestrian paths slippery. Frequent thunderstorms in spring should also be avoided as severe weather, wind, hail, and lightning create dangerous conditions. Summer heat can also be an issue for dog walkers in Dallas. During the summer, daytime temperatures skyrocket and heat-related illness can occur. Avoid this by walking earlier or later the day with your pet.
The terrain is flat with sidewalks and grassy boulevards making it easy to walk and providing cool grassy surfaces for your pup's paws. Busy roads skirt the community and pedestrians with pets need to be cautious of traffic in these areas. Residential roads are relatively quiet with shade trees to protect from hot, sunny days and are more amenable to walking with your pooch.
Butterfly Meadow is located a few blocks to the north of L.O. Daniel and provides an open natural area with pedestrian paths to walk your leashed dog. Kidd Springs Park is located to the east. This urban park has many amenities for dog walkers and plenty of greenways. There are benches, drinking fountains, picnic tables, and a pavilion in the park. Recreational facilities are also located here with sports fields and courts, a pool, and recreation center.
Lake Cliff Park is located a little farther to the east and has a lake to enjoy with your canine companion. There are many walking paths, trails, and greenways in the park and amenities like a drinking fountain, picnic tables, and outdoor restrooms. Treed and open areas, as well as gardens, provide beautiful green spaces in this 44-acre park. Recreational facilities are also available here and there is lots of activity in this picturesque park.
