Near East is located in Dallas and is the cultural and commercial heart of the state. The area, true to its name, is in the eastern zone of the city. Its location lines the northeastern side of the Trinity River and is straddled by both uptown and downtown Dallas.

The weather of Near East is much like the rest of Texas with its subtropical climate playing a key part in the weather systems. The neighborhood experiences extremely hot and humid summers with pleasant mild winters.
The neighborhood, although affluent, is rather commercialised and therefore holds an urbanized feel. Multiple shopping malls line the roads of Near East, owing to the history of the neighborhood that is industrialization. Modern apartment buildings line the roads with pretty balconies and hanging plants. This gives the area a fresh feel although it is still very developed.
Having said this, a bonus to Near East is that it lines the Trinity River. This means there is plenty of green space to the southwest of the neighborhood and this counteracts the urbanized feel. Here, it is a pretty natural environment with plenty of space for you and your pup to take a walk.
The terrain of Near East is pretty flat, making it an accessible place for all walking abilities and ages to take a stroll. The artificial nature of the neighborhood also adds to the ease of taking your pooch on a walk.
A major green space in the area just south of Near East is Trammell Crow Park. This park lines the Trinity River and is a great place to walk with your pup. The park has multiple footpaths to take you all around the fields and right up to the river bank. This large amount of green space is the perfect place to play fetch with your pooch! Another advantage is that the park is fenced off from the surrounding roads. This means that teaching your pup to roam off the leash would not only be safe for your pup, but will put you at ease as well!
If this wasn’t enough, Green Hollow Golf Course is situated to the north of the neighborhood and is only a five-minute drive away. This golf club offers plenty of amenities. Perhaps the best is the footpaths it offers for local dog walkers during the offseason!
