Old East Dallas loves dogs and it's apparent in the number places you can take Fido. There's Urban Dogg Dallas, a local supply store, PetSmart in the northwest, and Amy's Jogging Dogs, a grooming salon, is located southeast of there. In the south, the Upper Paw is another local supply store. There are also several restaurants around the neighborhood that welcome pets in the outdoor seating areas. You can enjoy these areas all year round as Dallas' climate stays fairly warm all year.
While most of the community features wide sidewalks along quieter roadways, always stay cautious near busy areas. Interstate 30 and Route 75 border Old East Dallas and many of the streets there have on and off ramps to the highways. Be careful when crossing these busy streets and keep your pet on a tight leash.
Central Square Park is a small, shady area that offers a quiet space. Right next door is Swiss & Liberty Dog Park where you can let your pooch run wild under the trees, exploring and meeting other doggie friends. There's another Bark Park in the southern area of Old East Dallas in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. This park, situated below the highway, features a grassy area for pets to run free.
