Wag! Walkers know Preston Highlands
Preston Highlands is a beautiful neighborhood on the outer north edge of Dallas, Texas. Although it is located pretty far out from the main city and has a lower than average population for the area, there is luckily a surprisingly high number of pet services. One of the main perks of the area is the high number of one-stop-shop pet stores where you can get just about everything your pet could possibly need outside of the vet's office. There are also some great grooming specific locations such as Lakeside Pet Groomers, Hollywood Feed, Heritage Pet Salon Boutique, and Knot 2 Shaggy. There are also some great clinics and hospitals that are a real comfort should an emergency arise.

The weather in Preston Highlands is something to be watched out for, especially in the summer. While winters are mild and easy to handle, the summer heat can easily cause some sweaty afternoon walks and discomfort, so prepare yourself for these temperatures.
What is the terrain like in Preston Highlands?
Although Dallas in general is very flat and artificial, this area is not the worst. Given its location both a bit out of downtown and in a nicer neighborhood, there are some beautiful parks and well-maintained neighborhoods in the area that help add some nature back to the region. These areas also add some hills to the terrain, although it is not much. As a whole, this area may not be great for avid outdoor explorers, however, it could be perfect for a family who wants a neighborhood for social gatherings but values activity and health within the family.

The lack of hills may seem unfortunate, however, it can actually be a great help to parents and dog owners in the hotter summer months. The decreased energy required on flat terrain can allow you to take your kids and pets on further walks or bike rides without them overheating or feeling exhausted.
How many greenways are there in Preston Highlands?
This area is chock-full of neighborhood parks. This is great because it gives anyone of any age a safe and pretty environment to stay active and healthy in. One great example of this is Jamestown Park. With a basketball court, baseball field, playground and picnic tables, this is a great place for a relaxing stroll with your puppy.

Another great area park is Celestial Park. This very unique park features a very interesting large sundial with poetry covered steps leading to it. With the inclusion of several running trails, this is the perfect location for a relaxing daily dog walk. Lakeside Park is another great neighborhood park, featuring a beautiful body of water. It also features several walking paths, a bridge, and some adorable teddy bear statues.

Finally, a must-see of the area is Caruth Park. Established in 1949, this park has a fishing pond, soccer and t-ball fields, tennis courts, and playgrounds.
