The South Boulevard Park Row neighborhood is a historic district with just over 100 houses on Edgewood, Park Row, and South Boulevard on the southwest side of Oakland Avenue. The neighborhood sits off Highway 45 loops and interchanges into the community. These 9 blocks are almost all that is left of homes built from 1910 until 1935. Declared a historic district in 1977, the district is one of twenty historic districts within the City of Dallas. With an active neighborhood association, you and your pup will need to be respectful of private property. As a solely residential neighborhood, you will not find any dog-friendly restaurants or businesses within the small community.

The summer Texas heat will find you and your pup walking in the early morning hours with longer walks reserved for the milder fall, winter, and spring seasons. Take the opportunity to enjoy the neighborhood walk and the chance to meet new friends for both you and your pup!

With just nine blocks making up the the South Boulevard Park Row neighborhood, there isn't much time for you or your pup to feel any terrain changes, but it is a mostly flat neighborhood anyway. A good mix of artificial and natural turf is made up of sidewalks and private lawns while most of the homes are set back off the streets with nice size front lawns which is great for some extra padding for your pup's paws. However, a lot of the tree canopy is located away from the sidewalk, making for a sunny walk through the neighborhood.

While speed limits will be reduced in the area, driveways are long and garages are often located at the back of the house. Be alert for cars backing out of driveways and inattentive drivers. Consider carrying water for you and your pup and be respectful of private property by carrying out any waste your pup might produce.

There are no parks in this small neighborhood. The green you will find will be private property. However, with a little planning and forethought, you and your pup can venture just outside the area for some great park experiences.

To the south just a few blocks at S. Malcolm X Boulevard and Pennsylvania sits Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Home to a recreational center, outdoor basketball court, and playground, this 12-acre community park is a well-appreciated destination for the community. Look for high pedestrian traffic after work and on the weekends.

Kimble Park is at Pennsylvania and Edgewood, just about three blocks to the southeast. This is a small 1-acre park that has a playground and outdoor basketball court. It can be a great pit stop for you and your pup on a longer walk as the park supplies drinking fountains for water bottle refills.
