The temperatures in Dallas are warm in spring and fall, mild in winter, and hot in the summer, with little need for warm outerwear. Summers can be unpleasantly hot for walking. Make sure you and your pooch have plenty of water on hot summer days. Check weather forecasts regularly for thunderstorms which are frequent occurrences in the spring and can be severe. Uptown is a mixed-use neighborhood with office towers, apartments, commercial areas, and lots of activity. Uptown is a highly developed, densely populated, urban neighborhood that is bordered by the Central Expressly on the east, the Katy Trail on the northwest, Bookout Street on the west, and the Woodall Rodgers Freeway on the south. 

Watch out for traffic in this busy central region with main thoroughfares on borders and intersecting the area. Neighborhood streets have streetcar tracks, so you need to be aware of cars, cyclists, and streetcars in the area when crossing busy roads. 

The Greenwood Cemetery occupies a large space in the middle of the district. The area is highly landscaped for such an urban region with mature shade trees lining streets and sidewalks and even grassy berms along roads that create perfect walking areas for pedestrians. The area has some hills and inclines although they are not particularly steep and do not generally hamper walking.

Reverchon Park is located in Uptown Dallas and provides 46 acres of natural and recreational green space for residents of the area. There are sports fields and recreational facilities in the park and lots of trails and paved paths with trees to enjoy with your pup. The Katy Trail is accessible from the park and is a 3.5-mile paved greenway running through this densely populated urban area.

The Klyde Warren Park is also located in the region and this 5.2-acre park is situated on an overpass over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway. The Tunnel Creek Parkway and Oak Lawn Park are situated on the west of Uptown and provide over 23 acres of greenway with drinking fountains, observation platforms, benches, and trails to explore with your hound.  

Griggs Park is also located in the Uptown area. At over 7 acres with lots of trails and a pet waste station, this neighborhood park is very popular with local dog owners.
