Shops, restaurants, and other services are located on the west side of the community, however, this area is located near busy freeways and has heavily trafficked roads that are not well designed for pedestrians.

Spring Branch East is part of the larger Spring Branch area and is bordered by Interstate 10 on the south and Highway 290 on the north. This developed neighborhood has commercial activity on the west side and residential dwellings on the east. 

Residential properties have single-family homes, apartment complexes, and condominium developments. Single-family homes are attractive and well situated on large properties which are well landscaped and maintained. Residential areas do not have sidewalks which means people and pets need to share the road with local traffic. 

There are train tracks running at an angle through the region from northwest to southeast and these present an impediment and hazard to foot travel. Cross only at designated pedestrian crossings. There are also several bayous in the Spring Branch East neighborhood which must also be crossed on roadways. The terrain is flat and there are no steep hills to climb in the district.

Spring Branch East is home to Freed Park, a greenway with a community center, playground, picnic tables, community garden, and a paved walking path around the open and treed areas. 

Just across the freeway is TC Jester Park. This is a large greenway with lots of recreational facilities and natural areas adjacent to a bayou. The White Oak Bayou Greenway trail runs along the waterway and provides lots of hiking opportunities for you and your pup. Watch out for cyclists and other users and keep your dog leashed in this area. There is an off-leash dog park in this greenway where your pup can play as well! Your dog should be well socialized and have good recall to use this park area. 

The TC Jester Park can only be accessed by crossing the freeway. There are several roads running under the freeway that provide access to the area, but not all have safe pedestrians ways so plan your route accordingly.
