Willow Meadows-Willowbend Area is a mixed-use neighborhood located on the southwest side of Houston, Texas. It is approximately a 30-minute commute to the downtown core. The Willow Meadows-Willowbend Area has plenty of businesses catering to local needs. South Post Oaks Road is lined with restaurants, shops, and services and there is a commercial area on the east side. To the north, dog owners can visit a pet supermarket with their furry friends to get treats toys, food, and other pet needs and there are four veterinarians in the neighborhood that are easily accessible.  

Houston boasts warm weather all year round, so you don't need to bundle up when walking with your dog in the area. Winters are mild with few sub-freezing temperatures, but summer days can see extremely hot temperatures and you will want to avoid the heat by walking earlier or later in the day. The Willow Meadows-Willowbend Area is bordered by South Post Oak Road on the west, the South Loop West on the north, and Highway 90 on the east and south. The freeway areas are not pedestrian-friendly, lacking controlled crossings and pedestrian ways. 

The Brays Bayou runs along the north side and is fed by Willow Creek. These waterways are subject to flooding during heavy rainfall and you should exercise caution around swollen creeks. Train tracks on the east side of the neighborhood are separated from homes by a natural green space. 

Most of the homes in the area are single-family, detached dwellings, mostly of bungalow and ranch style construction. The region is well landscaped with large trees, lawns, and well-tended yards and gardens. There are sidewalks throughout the neighborhood which make safe pathways for people and pets. The terrain is flat and it is easy to trek the area on foot with your dog without having to hike up any steep grades.

Willow Meadows-Willowbend Area has a long green space that is also a power corridor running along the tracks on the east side that pastures livestock and is home to a variety of local wildlife. Access by pedestrians and pets is limited by fencing, however, green spaces in the area adjacent to this greenway corridor are more accessible.  

Willow Park is conveniently located in the neighborhood and provides a picnic shelter, playground, and tennis courts. There are paved paths in the park and this area adjoins a greenway running east to west in the community that connects to the power corridor greenway.

A short distance to the southwest is the larger 290-acre Willow Waterhole Greenspace. This natural area is home to local flora and fauna with wetlands, ponds, and treed areas. Pedestrian paths and hiking trails run through the park. Dogs are permitted, but must remain on a leash and you should be prepared to clean up after them.
