At the very northernmost reaches of Bellingham is the Guide Meridian neighborhood. Not so long ago, this was all rural property but as the city has expanded, this area has been developed. You will find a mix of industrial, single-family homes, apartments and condos, and new shopping centers coming in to meet the demand of the residents in this area. Along the perimeter of the neighborhood, you can find all of Sparky’s essentials including grooming, vet services, and a place to get all of their accessories. All of your favorite restaurants and stores are available and, although you may not find them on your walk, they are only a few minutes away.
Weather in Bellingham is very mild. It is subject to Pacific storms which can mean heavy rains from time to time. Winter storms are sporadic but can be rough, especially here, an area that is vulnerable to artic air coming out of the Fraser Valley.

Guide Meridian, unlike much of Bellingham, is pretty flat. You might notice a few hills here and there, but they are hardly noticeable and should cause you no trouble on your walk. However, the further north you go in this neighborhood, the more rural the area becomes and this is no longer the case. Some of the highway areas to the north in Guided Meridian may not be entirely safe to walk since they are country roads with only shoulders and often no designated walking areas.
How many greenways are there in Guide Meridian?
Cordata Park is really the only public space in Guided Meridian, but keep in mind that some of the roads here in this neighborhood have large swaths of greenways that you will be walking next to as you make your way down some of the sidewalks. Cordata Park has plenty of trees and a trail that comes out into three different parts of the local neighborhoods.
Just a bit further south and just off of Northwest Ave. is Squalicum Creek Park which, in addition to trails, also has a dog park which, while a bit of a drive for those in Guided Meridian, makes it worth going out of your way to reach the park. The dog park is fenced-in and you are able to let your pup off of their leash for a good run as well as much needed socialization with other dogs and people on your daily outing.
