What is the terrain like in Cedar Park?
Be prepared for some hills if you plan to stray very far from home base. Although the hills tend to run west to east, it will be very difficult to get around without dealing with at least a few of them. You can limit most of your hilly walking by going in a north-south direction if you are still a beginner.
There are a lot of narrow roads with an abundance of vegetation close to the lake. When combined with their windy nature and lack of sidewalks, traverse these roads with caution.
There is not a lot of traffic here since the beach is private and the homes are secluded, but still make sure to keep a close eye out for traffic. Up in the main neighborhood, the roads are a bit wider but still do not have sidewalks, so you will be walking either on the street or on shoulders of grass or gravel. Most of the traffic is luckily limited to residents.
How many greenways are there in Cedar Park?
There are no greenways in Cedar Park with the exception of the Burke Gilman Trail which passes through the area near the lake. There is no public access to the lake here and no public place to park a car to use the trail, but if you are close enough to walk to the it, there is plenty of greenway for Fido to enjoy.
If you are too far away, you have the option of driving down to Matthews Beach a couple of miles to the south where you can park and walk the walkways there. Matthews Beach is the closest public access for the lake and is well worth checking out.
Just a little further down the road is Magnuson Park which has an off-leash area and many acres of grass and trees to explore. Magnuson Park is an old World War II military installation with many of the old buildings still intact.
