Just north of Harrison Denny-Blaine is the Washington Park Arboretum. The 230-acre arboretum and gardens are a “living museum,” featuring rare and local flora and fauna. Trails through the arboretum are open to the public and leashed dogs are welcome in most areas, although not in the Japanese garden.  

The Harrison Ridge Greenbelt is situated centrally in the region and provides a natural wooded area with natural surfaced trails. During wet weather, these trails can be slippery with muddy spots, so use caution. The Denny-Blaine Park is a small waterfront park with a beach. This is an unofficial "clothing optional" beach, which is good to know so that you're not taken unawares!
