The majority of the retail and commercial areas are at the edges of the neighborhood, close enough to make it easy for the average resident to grab a coffee or some food, but far enough away to allow Laurelhurst to remain the quiet neighborhood it has always been. You will find grooming services and veterinarians close by but access to a pet store will require a trip into the University District by car or bus.

Also available is the Burke Gilman Playground Park and the Burke Gilman trail that is just outside the boundaries of the neighborhood situated along Sandpoint Way. In addition to plenty of greenway access, the trail also gives you access to miles of trails, allowing you to get as much exercise as you and Max need.
Magnuson Park is your other option. It requires a short drive to get there, but it is easy to access and offers many acres of grass, beach, and trees.
