Rocaro’s Dogs
About the caregiver
I’ve owned or cared for dogs for about half of my adult life and have always wanted more when it came to dogs. I don’t have a dog/I want another dog; I should get my dog a friend so he has someone to play with; I’m older now, I need a senior dog so we can take care of each other. When I didn’t have a dog in my life, it was usually because life’s circumstances at the time wouldn’t allow me to provide enough of what a dog needs most — care, training, companionship and love. My dogs all became friendly and well mannered dogs without any real conscious effort to make them so on my part. It seemed as though I had an inherent affinity for dogs that they recognized as though I was a new friend. I became intrigued by training dogs by Cesar Millan as so many others were. I soon left him behind and, in about 2008, I started self-educating myself in depth. In 2009 my landlord was a breeder and I assisted her in what needed to be done and learned a lot by just observing the dogs freely roaming her property. I’ve studied trainers like Dr. Ian Dunbar, Patricia B. McConnell & Stanley Coren. After a long career in law-enforcement, I was hired as a dog trainer for PetSmart in 2018. I completed an 80 hour course to become a certified dog trainer by PetSmart. Since then I’ve trained on an intermittent basis; a referral from past clients, another dog trainer or just word-of-mouth. Aside from walking, I also offer training, sitting, drop-ins and transportation to the vet or the dog park
