About the caregiver
I’ve been involved in dog rescue for nearly 10 years and have worked a lot with large dogs who struggle with anxiety, fear, and/or aggression. Having previously owned dogs with these issues, I was often homebound because it was difficult to find someone who was comfortable managing dogs with these behavioral concerns. Since most dog lovers are also dog owners, boarding was another challenge since my last pet was also dog aggressive. While all dogs are welcome in my home, I am primarily here to support dog owners with a similar experience to mine. I’m also willing to work on training exercises with your dog upon request. My home is in Downtown Wilmington near a park and the River Walk.
Specialties
Caregivers Home
I live in the South Front community across from Greenfield Park. Amenities include a dog park, walking paths, and a dog walking station. My home is dog friendly. I have a small and a large crate and several dog beds depending on your preference. I’m fine with dogs on the bed and furniture; however, I will have your dog follow the same rules you have for them in your own home. Since I live in an old warehouse, my apartment is one story, so no concerns regarding stairs. I drive an SUV with a seatbelt and harness for any dog companions. If you have a social dog, there are plenty of opportunities for them to play with other dogs. I am also very experienced walking dogs who are aggressive towards dogs and/or people. I have a gentle lead, pinch collar, training, vest, and muzzle which all may be used upon request. I am fully comfortable with e-collars as well. If that’s your preference, I prefer that you provide the one you use since their performance levels vary.
