Southwest Big Sur

If you’re a connoisseur of fine art, or even if you’re just looking to get some local pieces, you’re in luck! Make your way to the southwestern section of Big Sur, where you’ll find the Phoenix Shop at Nepenthe. Your leashed dog will be free to join you inside while you peruse the fine jewelry, local art, and imports from across the world. Your dog will be expected to be well-behaved, but that shouldn’t be a problem with your precious pooch. After all, they’re the real masterpiece. Just the same, you can get an additional masterpiece here! It shouldn’t make them too jealous.

Central Big Sur

If you’re less concerned with imports and more interested in browsing some local artwork and craft pieces, there’s another location that you’d be doggone mad to miss! In Central Big Sur, you’ll find Local Color, an art shop that carries the goods of more than 80 local artists and artisans. Perfect to serve as a souvenir for the time you spent in Big Sur, or even as a gift for your loved ones, the works housed within this shop definitely warrant checking out. Bring your dog along, and let them pick something nice! They must have good taste -- they have you as an owner!

North Ragged Point

A hop and a skip away, you’ll find yourself just north of Ragged Point. This beautiful location doesn’t only boast scenic views, it’s also home to the Big Sur Coast Gallery and Cafe -- the perfect place to actually settle in and enjoy these views. Offering seasonally inspired favorites, your dog won’t be the only one drooling upon seeing the selection of food you have to choose from. Your pup is welcome inside and on the outdoor deck as long as they are leashed -- just be sure to bring some treats for them as well! You shouldn’t get to have all the fun, or all the yum!

Central Carmel

If you’re willing to make a short trip and your dog certainly won’t mind a fun ride in the car, it’s worth going the distance to Central Carmel, a short distance from Big Sur. Here, you’ll find Carmel Beach, perhaps the most publicly enjoyed beach in the area. There are no rules regarding leashes, so your pup is free to have a blast kicking up sand, and maybe you can enjoy a bonfire with some of the local beach goers. Your pup is sure to make lots of furry friends, and you are certain to well. Take it easy, you charmers!
