Northern West Point
Northern West Point is the part of the town that actually touches the banks of the Ohio River. Locals like to stay on the northern side of town when looking for fun things to do with their families. Fort Duffield Park is found on this side of town as well. This park has a very hilly terrain that makes it perfect for viewing the Ohio River on clear days. Make sure you bring your waste bags and a good leash with you, as there is no off-leash area found in this park. The park looks more like a farm when you first drive up, so make sure you take some selfies with your dog here!

Southern West Point
Southern West Point is home to many outdoor attractions that you can enjoy with your dog. This part of town is only a few minutes from the Ohio River. If you are looking for an outdoor adventure that will take you some time, you can take a hike together at the Tioga Falls Trail and then cool off in the Tioga Creek. You can even take a weekend camping trip at Round Hollow or one of the many RV parks in this part of town. Make sure you bring plenty of waste bags, as the spaces are shared with many other dogs and their owners that are passing through.

Otter Creek
Otter Creek is a small residential area that is covered mostly by the Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area. This natural oasis is the pawfect place for leashed, well-behaved dogs that won’t scare off the local wildlife! There are many streams and rivers running through this area where you can spot all kinds of aquatic creatures if you sit still enough. Ducks, geese, otters, beavers, and more all frequent this area. Bring a good, sturdy leash if your dog gets excited around water. Make sure you bring waste bags too so that you can leave the area just as clean and green as you found it.

Valley Village
Valley Village is a neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, about a 10-minute drive north of West Point. This neighborhood is worth the drive if you are looking for a place with green lawns and gorgeous houses that are the very last word in curb appeal. Your dog will love a scenic walk along the sidewalks in this small neighborhood, with plenty of smells to check out and lots of birds to look at as they visit the abundantly colorful bushes and flower gardens found in Valley Village. Make sure you bring plenty of waste bags with you for your stay so that you can help keep this quaint neighborhood as pristine as it was when you found it.

Medora
Medora is a small village about 15 minutes away from West Point, just east of Valley Village. Medora is close to many outdoor attractions for nature enthusiasts and their dogs. The Scotts Gap Trail is just minutes outside of Medora and is a great place to spend an afternoon hiking and walking with your dog. This huge outdoor trail area is perfect for groups, families or just a pair of hikers with their pups. Make sure you have a good hiking harness on your dog for the steep terrain found on the trail. Also bring plenty of water for the both of you to stay hydrated!
