Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park is situated on a small peninsula in the southern region of Freeport, and has several trails that you and your furry friend are welcome to explore. You will need to grab a leash and some hiking supplies, such as water and doggie waste bags, for your state park excursion. You'll love all of the scenic views you'll see here -- be sure to bring your camera! Leashed dogs are welcome in most areas of the park. You can even embark on a guided nature tour here! This natural space also provides op-paw-tunities to get up-close and personal with wildlife, including ospreys.

Ocean Ave

This puptastic neighborhood is located 18 miles from Freeport, Maine and is home to the Quarry Run Dog Park. This off-leash dog park encompasses a large fenced-in area as well as a smaller fenced-in area. The areas are separated by dog size so they will have a better time at this park playing with other canine friends their own size. If your pooch is more of a loner, there is plenty of area for them to explore on their own. You will want to bring waste bags and water with you. There are some trees that provide shade. Right outside of the fenced-in areas are acres of trails for you and your pooch to explore. These trails are fairly easy to navigate and are natural, covered with dirt and grass. Grab your pup’s leash and see how far you two can get on the trails!

Willard Beach

If you and your pooch are looking for a great beach to check out this neighborhood has just the one for you. Willard Beach is located 21 miles from Freeport. In the summer months, dogs are free to run along the beach off of their leash. However, they must be under voice control. The sand is soft and the surf is calm, and your pooch will love playing in both here! You will want to bring extra water, an umbrella for shade, and doggie bags for cleaning up. Something to keep in mind is that there are no garbage cans here for throwing away your waste bags. Grab a Frisbee and head over to have a fun day in the sun!

Mackworth Island

This pawesome neighborhood is home to so many great activities for you and your pooch to enjoy. Mackworth Island is located 15 miles from Freeport, Maine and is open from dawn to dusk. Enjoy a walk along the shoreline or above the path. The surf is inviting, and your pup will love running along the sand and jumping into the waves. There is also a nice bird watching spot for you to enjoy. The nice thing is that this pawpular spot is limited to only 20 cars, so it is never crowded here. Your furry friend will need to be on their leash during your visit. You will want to bring the essential supplies, such as water, an umbrella for shade, and doggie waste bags for easier cleanup.

Valley Neighborhood

This dog-friendly neighborhood is located about 18 miles from Freeport, and is home to the Valley Street Dog Park. This off-leash, fenced-in park welcomes your pooch to explore to his heart's content! There are plenty of benches and trees that provide shade for you and your canine pal. There is a water station for thirsty pups, but you will need to bring your own doggie waste bags.The surface of the park is mainly covered with wood chips and there are patches of grass throughout the park. Don't fur-get to bring Fido's favorite toy with you!
