This 76-acre nature center has hiking trails that go through woodlands, wetlands, and prairies. The trails also pass by meadows that are filled with wildflowers in the spring. You and your dog will always have a pawesome time hiking in this park! If you want to get a bite to eat with your dog after the park, check out DJ’s Pizza Pub. This casual eatery has 10 dog-friendly outdoor tables, and they serve wings, subs, salads, and customizable pizzas.

When you’re in this Hudsonville neighborhood, don’t make the faux paw of missing Sunrise Park. This neighborhood park allows dogs on-leash, and it’s home to a beautiful trail that goes along Rush Creek. Bring some doggy bags and water, and enjoy a leisurely stroll along this peaceful creek with your pup. After the park, continue your fun day out with a snack or lunch at Pike 51 Brewing Co, which has over 50 dog-friendly outdoor tables. Here, you can enjoy locally-brewed craft beers and delicious salads, sandwiches, wraps, and flatbreads. Bring your dog their own tasty treat, and have a fun meal with your furry best friend.

Just five miles from Hudsonville, you’ll find the town of Jenison, which has a pawsitively amazing off-leash area called Grand Ravines Dog Park. This 21-acre dog park has separate fenced-in small and large dog areas. Both areas are filled with grass and have tons of space for your dog to run around and play. There’s also another fenced-in area that has tree-filled paths your pup can walk on off-leash. Plus, there are numerous water fountains for your dog, and there are benches and picnic tables for owners to sit at while their dog is playing. You and your dog will always have a good time here!

Westside Connection is home to another fun off-leash area: Covell Dog Park. This dog park is 12 miles from Hudsonville, and it features a large, fenced-in field. In summer, the park has a plastic kiddie pool your dog can splash around in, and there’s also a hose you can use to fill your pup’s water bowl. Bring some tennis balls or a Frisbee, and spend the day playing with your dog in this park. After the park, treat your dog to lunch at Mitten Brewing Co. This restaurant has a dog-friendly patio, and they’ll bring your dog a water bowl and a homemade treat. While your dog enjoys their treat, you can dine on specialty pizzas, sandwiches, wings, nachos, and more.

Midtown

Grand Rapids’ Midtown neighborhood has another furtastic dog park, Hillcrest Dog Park. This park is 16 miles from Hudsonville, and it has separate large and small dog areas. Both areas are filled with trees, keeping them shady and cool in the summer. There’s also water available in the summer — if you’re going to the park in winter, be sure to bring some water with you. As your dog plays in Hillcrest’s large fields, you can sit and watch on a shady bench. If playing at the dog park makes you and your hound hungry, head over to Bagel Beanery. This bagel shop has dog-friendly outdoor tables, and they serve a wide variety of bagels, sandwiches, and omelets.
