Visit West Park for beginner-level scenic walking trails, a disc golf course, and benches for you and pup to sit by the pond. Sunset Park offers a bird sanctuary nestled in 100-year-old trees, a fishing lake with a stone-arch bridge, and a playground. And West City Park has 100 acres to keep you and Fido happy, with a 3-acre fishing lake and 1.5 miles of trails. Water is available at all parks. Stop at Panera anytime for some outdoor dog-friendly dining!

Hillsboro City Center

Three great places for your pup and you to enjoy the outdoors are located in Hillsboro’s City Center, just west of Pevely in Hillsboro! Valley View Glades Trail is perfect for hiking on its 2.8-mile loop trail through wildflower fields. Doggies are welcome on leash on this moderately difficult trail. Be sure to pack water! City Park has a great walking path, hiking trails, playgrounds, restrooms and picnic tables. And finally, Morse Mill features fishing spots, camping and picnic areas with grills. Restrooms can be found here as well. Pack a picnic lunch when visiting any of these fur-iendly day outings!

Crystal City

Just under four square miles, this town south of Pevely, is home to the Crystal City Municipal Park where you and pup can relax on open grassy areas or enjoy a picnic under their gazebos or pavilions. Dogs are always welcome on leash and there you will find sports fields and tennis courts, restrooms and water. Be sure to bring clean up bags though! Just after Labor Day, Fifi can go for a swim when the town opens the pool for some fur-iendly water play! Need a refreshing treat? Visit Dairy Queen where pup is welcome at their outside tables!

Herculaneum

Herculaneum lies just south of Pevely. ‘Tree City’ is a perfect name for this town which features the Bates Memorial Park, known for its great fishing, large open spaces, and beautiful Joachim Loop Trail for year-round hikes. While there, take Fifi to the All Bark Village Dog Park for some off-leash fun where separate dog zones allow pups room to romp and play. There are doggie water fountains and a strict clean up policy. Dunklin-Fletcher Park offers relaxing benches and picnic tables with scenic views of the mighty Mississippi – so pack a picnic for you and your pup, and enjoy the day.

Barnhart

Just east of Pevely, you will find Barnhart. This town offers one park which is managed by Jefferson County. Sun Valley Park is a wonderful place for your pup to enjoy some much-needed relaxation. Take a walk or just lie around in the grass found throughout the park. After a great day of doin’ nothin’, how about enjoying a bite to eat. Head over to Ginny’s Kitchen and Custards, where you and your fur-EVER friend will love sitting at one of their seven outdoor tables and enjoying a burger and shake!
