Central Springfield
In this pawesome neighborhood, there are a few places for you and your pooch to choose from when you are looking for a place to stay. The first one is The Springfield Inn, which is a pet friendly hotel. They allow you to stay with your pooch for a small fee. There is a grassy area outside where you can walk with your pup so they can stretch their legs. The other option is Springfield Airbnb Rentals. There are over 300 homes and apartments to stay in while you and your pet are here. Pet policies vary based on the host and house requirements, so be sure to check the pet policy before booking.

Whites Creek Pike
This neighborhood is located about 17 miles from Springfield, and is a great place for you and your pup to get in some walking or hiking. This neighborhood is home to The Trails at Fontanel. This is a peaceful place where you and your pup can enjoy nature. The main, paved trail is about 2 miles long, but there are also nature trails to explore. Along the paths are benches and trees for shade. You will want to bring plenty of water with you, though. There is also a creek at the end of the trail where you and your pooch can take a swim to cool off after walking. Be sure to bring towels with you to dry off. Put on your walking shoes, grab your pup’s leash, and see how much of these trails you can conquer.

Shelby Hills
This amazing neighborhood is located about 33 miles from Springfield, and is home to a great trail for you and your pooch to hike together. The Shelby Bottoms Greenway is an old rail line that is now part of the Rails-To-Trails Conservancy program. It runs for about 6.4 miles and is located in East Nashville, near the Cumberland River. The trail surface changes along the way, and includes asphalt, dirt, gravel, sand, grass and wood chips. Your pup will love the variety of terrain here. There are plenty of trees that will provide shade for you and your pooch. Remember to bring plenty of water and supplies for cleaning up after your furry friend. Grab your pup’s leash and head out for a fun-filled day in nature!

Caldwell
This dog-friendly neighborhood is located 17 miles from Springfield and is home to Fenway’s Dog Park at Moss-Wright Park. This park is an off-leash park that is fully fenced in. Like many dog parks, this one has a separate area for the smaller breeds. There are plenty of trees for shade and benches for the owners to sit on. The surface of the park is mainly wood chips, and there is agility equipment for your pooch to romp around on. The park provides a water fountain for thirsty canine friends. Your pooch will love making new friends at this park almost as much as you'll enjoy the scenic view!

Cucumber River
If you and your pooch are looking to get in some exercise, this neighborhood has the perfect trail for you. The Cucumber River Bicentennial Trail, located 21 miles from Springfield, is one of the old rail lines which have been converted into walking trails by the Rails-To-Trails Conservancy. This trail is 6.5 miles long and runs through beautiful scenery. You'll find waterfalls, streams and overhangs for you and your pooch to enjoy. Remember to bring plenty of water, even though there are plenty of shade trees along the trail. The surface of the trail is asphalt and gravel, so you will need to keep an eye on your pup’s paws if the asphalt gets too hot.
