Wag! Walkers know Bankfoot

Bankfoot is a rural residential subdivision situated west of Bella Vista, Arkansas. There is no significant commercial activity in the region that residents can access on foot, although there is a country club and golf course located just east of the community that is convenient for club members and local golf aficionados!

Lots of natural areas to explore surround the community and dog walkers have lots of opportunities to enjoy the scenery and adjacent wilderness areas.

Pedestrians need to be prepared for variable weather with appropriate outerwear. Summers are hot, winters are cold, and fall and spring, while more temperate, can be wet! Rain gear for rainy days is a must and warm outerwear for cold, snowy winter days will keep you warm and dry even in inclement weather. In summer, you can avoid the extreme heat by walking your dog earlier or later in the day, staying hydrated, and wearing cool, breathable fabrics.

What is the terrain like in Bankfoot?

Bankfoot is surrounded by natural wilderness and rural country areas. The region has lots of forested areas and some open natural areas creating beautiful scenery and providing habitat for local wildlife with whom Bankfoot residents share their community. There is a golf course located on the west side which provides more manicured green space.

The residential area is flat with no steep hills on roadways, however, the surrounding rural areas have a more varied terrain with steep hills and ravines. The residential roads do not have paved pedestrian paths or sidewalks and pedestrians with pets need to share the roads with local vehicles. It is important to walk facing oncoming traffic and look for vehicles approaching. Keep your dog leashed and close to you so that your pup does not wander out onto a roadway.

The neighborhood is peaceful and doesn't feel very urban, but urban communities are just a short drive away as is a large lake with recreational activities.

How many greenways are there in Bankfoot?

The surrounding natural areas of Bankfoot provide plenty of greenways with trails made by wildlife and other local critters to explore with your dog. Unmaintained trails can have treacherous footing, especially during inclement weather, so use caution. Venomous snakes are rare in this area, but can be encountered.

Loch Lomond Dog Park, also referred to as the Bella Vista K9 Corral, is a great off-leash dog park for your pup to play. Make sure your dog is well socialized and has good off-leash recall as the area is not fenced. There are lots of paved pedestrian paths adjacent to the dog park in the Loch Lomond Park area with bridges crossing the creek in several locations, allowing pedestrians with pets to navigate the area easily. A ball diamond is also located here and playful pups and their people can take in a game if they time it right!
