Wag! Walkers know Birmingham

Birmingham is a neighborhood located in central Bella Vista, Arkansas. It is built on the Springfield Plateau of the Ozark Mountains. The area, as a whole, is a hot spot for summer visitors, so you’re likely to see the number of people using the parks and greenways increase during this time. It is bordered by Skyline on its south side with Spanker/Dartmoor to the east. Lambeth is directly north of the area, while the Bella Vista Freeway runs to the west of it. Lambeth drive runs centrally through the neighborhood.

In term of pet amenities, The Village Pet Hospital can be found on Lambeth Drive, providing you and your pooch with any veterinary services you may require. For grooming services, you’ll have to travel south on the Bella Vista Freeway to Cut Above Grooming Salon. While it is a little out of the area, it will provide your pup with a nice bath and haircut.

What is the terrain like in Birmingham?

While Bella Vista is situated on the Springfield Plateau, suggesting a relatively flat area of land, it is actually relatively hilly. As a neighborhood located smackdab within the Ozark Mountains, it is characterized by a large number of steep hills, valleys, and creeks. This can make a walk challenging for some, so we would always recommend planning your route in advance in order to avoid some of the steepest of hills if your fitness level isn’t high.

While the area is largely built-up, there are a lot of greenways that are ideal for taking your pooch for a stroll. Bella Vista has seven main lakes and a number of creeks, one of which, known as Sugar Creek, runs along Birmingham’s western border. The roads and houses are set among a forest of trees, so you should be able to find a natural space to take your pooch out for a stroll just by going beyond your own back garden.

How many greenways are there in Birmingham?

Birmingham itself is a neighborhood that is built into a natural forest area, therefore, you are never far from a gorgeous stroll with your furry friend. But if you’re looking for wide open park space and natural creeks and valleys, Birmingham has enough space to reach one of these easily.

Blowing Springs Park is a large wooded and grassy area in the south of Birmingham. It offers a number of walking trails. There is a camping site within this park and miles of mountain biking trails. It is a popular greenway with the locals, offering picnic spots galore and is great to let your little pooch stretch his legs. If you fancy a long walk to Windsor Lake, one of Bella Vista’s famously large Ozark lakes, take one of the paths that run under the Freeway westwards walking near to Sugar Creek all the way until you reach this spectacular body of water.
