Wag! Walkers know Stronsay

This heavily wooded and thinly developed community sits in the network of suburbs outside of Bella Vista, near the Missouri-Arkansas line. Of the web of planned communities in these hills, Stronsay is nearer deep wilderness. Civilization thins as you near the line, and only a couple of roads cross state lines. There is little but wilderness for many miles across state lines.

This means that while Stronsay is developed, little stands between the deep wilderness and its wildlife, like bears, cougars, and you, when you walk around Stronsay. To play it safe, stick to the roads.

Lake Loch Lomond is not far from Stronsay, with its nearest fingers reaching within a short drive. If you and your dog are craving some scenery diversity, take a long walk or a short drive down to Lake Loch Lomond for waterside hiking, swimming, or boating related activities. After a long winter in the Arkansas woods, there is nothing better than a summer dip in a beautiful lake.

What is the terrain like in Stronsay?

Stronsay is located on gently rolling hills. The terrain here is flatter than in other areas of the suburbs of Bella Vista, but still hilly enough that you will notice it if you are walking or especially if you are on wheels. Plenty of relatively unoccupied streets are great for running your dog on wheels, but be aware that when cars do come, they tend to go fast on the winding country roads. Plenty of green along the roads means that you can easily get off the road if you feel nervous.

If you are feeling adventurous, the forest is thin enough in some areas and at some times of year for hiking. Winter hiking around Stronsay can be lovely, as the forest is thin enough to navigate with leaves all shed. Several walking paths do exist going through the woods and connecting various communities. While walking on such a path is safer, remember your proximity to dangerous wildlife at all times.

How many greenways are there in Stronsay?

This community is plunked in a massive forest. Trees are old, mature, and thickly packed. Some areas are thin enough for hiking, especially in the winter, and some foot trails exist between communities. There are few, if any, deliberately cleared walking paths just for meandering through the forest, however, and, in general, this area belongs to the wilderness.

Proximity to deep wilderness across state lines means that all sorts of wildlife might wander into this neighborhood. You could see raccoons, wild turkey or ducks, deer and all sorts of birds. You could also encounter black or grizzly bears, bobcats or cougars. This is true deep wilderness, so exercise caution when hiking and especially if you see signs of wildlife. This said, your dog will love exploring the wide open wilderness around Stronsay, and you will love the opportunity to enjoy experiencing wildlife in its untouched, natural state.
