Sugar Creek is a tiny town between Bella Vista and Bentonville. This little town is nestled between forested rolling hills and is composed of little more than a few fast food restaurants and shopping centers. An elementary school and extensive soccer park running along the river take up most of the flat space available to the town.
The gorgeous Bella Vista Lake and accompanying park provide beautiful easy-to-walk trails along the lake. A wide river runs along the road and provides beautiful hiking along the shorelines when the water is running low and slow. Usually, this river is meandering and has lots of peninsulas and islands for you and your dog to explore.
The hills stretching away from the town in all directions are gentle enough for a casual hike, provided you stay on the roads or a trail. While some forest is thin enough for hiking, most is thick and has lots of undergrowth.
There are plenty of grassy areas around town for casual walking, and if you'd like a real hike the heavily forested hills offer some adventure. Blowing Springs Park offers excellent hiking through the forest on well-maintained hiking trails, so your dog can enjoy a serious hike while you take it easy on a smooth trail. If you want to go off-trail, the options are virtually limitless in the expansive forested hills.
The gently rolling hills that rise away from the town proper are heavily wooded and dotted with homesteads. Hiking through these woods can be very pleasant, especially if you would like some protection from cold Arkansas winds.
Many paths run away from the road in the dense woods, so you can hike through the wild, thick woods without having to hike by sticking to a path. While on hot days the thick woods may be too warm, making the river hike a better choice, during cool weather the forest paths may be just the place for you and your dog to get in touch with nature.
