Top dog walkers in Virginia Village
Wag! Walkers know Virginia Village
In a world where neighborhoods can be thrown up and inhabited in a matter of months, the true nostalgic neighborhood is becoming something of a rarity. Virginia Village has both history and character, so much so that some people tend to never leave once they move in! That is exactly what makes this neighborhood such a great place for dog walkers.
The interior of the neighborhood has a few small businesses, but overall, most of the businesses reside at the outer reaches. Food is readily available for hungry walkers and lucky pups also have access to their favorite treats at an assortment of establishments just walk away in the community.
Climate is rarely a problem with the biggest barriers to walking being the snow that does arrive in the winter and the hot pavement of summer which can be avoided by walking early in the morning or using the extensive trail system that is a part of this area.
What is the terrain like in Virginia Village?
Terrain throughout much of the Denver area does not have a lot of elevation changes and those parts that do have what might be termed as "rolling hills." This means that the elevation changes are quite minor and do little to stop even beginners from walking. These smaller hills are also great for those who want to combine their exercise with their dogs. Simply incorporate them into your walk at intervals, increasing and decreasing the pace as needed to suit your fitness level.
This neighborhood does not have the best sidewalks on the side streets. Small sidewalks and no grassy shoulders do not leave a lot of room for walking and, in some cases, you may find yourself walking on the streets. The busier streets have larger sidewalks, so if walking around town is your choice, you would do well to not avoid the larger thoroughfares. Your pup will thank you for a bit of grass to wander in!
How many greenways are there in Virginia Village?
Denver is well known for its wide array of parks and walking trails and the neighborhood of Virginia Village is no different. While you will only find three smaller parks inside the neighborhood, the larger Cook Park is connected to the trail system. Located on the eastern edge of Virginia Village, Cook Park runs along Cherry Creek and a trail by the same name. The park itself has a number of trails in it, but the best part is that Cherry Creek Trail connects with other parks and trails, giving you almost limitless places to walk throughout the greater area.
Unlike walking on the streets through Virginia Village, these trails have generous amounts of greenway along them which allow your pup the option of walking on grass rather than hard and possibly hot surfaces.
Garland Park is also accessible through this trail system just to the northeast of the neighborhood while one smaller park, City of Potenza Park, is also connected.
