Smoothies are a great way to beat the summer heat. Why not let your pup in on the deliciousness? We've found 5 "puptastic" smoothie recipes that are not only doggone tasty, but also healthy! These smoothies are human-approved, so feel free to double the recipes so you can have some too. All you'll need for these recipes are a blender and some fresh or frozen fruits and veggies. Without further ado, let's get to blending!


Strawberry banana smoothie

This recipe is loaded with antioxidants and probiotics to boost your pup's immune system and gut health.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries or a 16-ounce bag of frozen strawberries

  • 1½ cups plain Greek low-fat yogurt

  • 1 banana

  • ¼ cup skim milk

  • 3 tablespoons honey

Directions

  1. Slice up your fruit into small pieces for easy blending.

  2. Place your berries, yogurt, bananas, milk, and honey in your blender or food processor.

  3. Buzz your smoothie ingredients on medium speed for 2 minutes.

You can either pour this mixture over your dog's food, or you can freeze it in ice cube trays and serve your pup an icy treat.


"Pup-kin" Spice Smoothie

This smoothie is not just tasty, but it's also packed with protein and fiber too! 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 1/2 cup crushed ice

  • 3 tablespoons coconut meat

  • 1 heaping tablespoon peanut butter (without added sugar or xylitol)

  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

  • Dog treats to top

  • 1 can of coconut milk (refrigerated overnight)

Directions

  1. Put your pumpkin puree, water, crushed ice, coconut meat, peanut butter, and pumpkin pie spice into your blender. 

  2. Blend on medium speed for 2 minutes.

  3. Take the solidified portion of the coconut milk and mix it with a hand mixer until light and creamy. 

  4. Top your pup's smoothie with the coconut whipped cream and top it with your dog treat.

  5. Serve in a bowl, and enjoy!


Blackberry mango smoothie

This tropical smoothie will have your pup feeling like they're lounging on an island far away!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces plain yogurt

  • 1 cup blackberries or raspberries or 5 large, hulled strawberries

  • 1 mango

  • 1 very ripe banana

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1 cup ice water

Directions

  1. Slice the mango and banana for easy blending.

  2. Blend all the ingredients on medium speed for two minutes until well-combined.

  3. Freeze the smoothie in silicone molds for 2 hours.

  4. Pop the smoothie cubes out of the mold and serve.


Apple delight smoothie

You may not have heard of lucuma powder, but it will be a regular staple in your house after you try this smoothie. Lucuma powder comes from a sweet tropical fruit and packs tons of vitamins and minerals.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces chard

  • 1 Red Delicious apple 

  • 1 banana

  • 1 teaspoon lucuma powder

  • ¼ cup raw cashews

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup ice

Directions

  1. Soak your cashews in water overnight.

  2. Peel and chop your apples into one-inch cubes.

  3. Combine the ingredients in your blender and blend on high until smooth.

  4. Pour in a bowl to serve.


Cinnamon pear yogurt smoothie

This nutritious recipe is full of vitamin C for dogs and beta carotene, thanks to the addition of pears. What's more, cinnamon can help combat inflammation!

Ingredients

  • 1 pear

  • ½ cup plain yogurt

  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Peel and dice your pears.

  2. Combine all your ingredients in your blender and blend on high for 1 minute.

  3. Portion out your smoothie into small bowls and serve!

For one pumpkin pie spice is highly toxic to dogs. Why would you put that in this movie? Also, even the skim milk can cause gastrointestinal upset you should just use plain Greek nonfat yogurt with 0% milk, fat or keifer.

In the Pear and cinnamon one, can I use apple instead of pear???
