We're back again with another new edition of our Dog Walker Spotlight stories. In this ongoing series, we've been spotlighting top Pet Caregivers around the nation who provide pet care on the Wag! Platform. This is a chance for you to meet & get to know the Pet Caregivers on the Wag! app.
Since joining Wag! in September 2020, Austin has completed over 625 dog walking services with rave reviews earning him a 5.0 star rating!
Pet Parents who have worked with Austin have said he is "super attentive with the pups," "flexible and responsible," and "pups warm up to Austin right away," such as the likes of doggoes like Kobi, Buddy, and Gypsy.
Austin's joining us on the blog today to talk about his experience as a Pet Caregiver, his inspiration for signing up as a Wag! Dog Walker on the platform, and even share some words of wisdom to new Pet Caregivers who want to build their dog walking business with Wag!. Take it away, Austin!
I am from Houston and that is originally where I started Wag! Dog Walking before I moved to Dallas.
I love to hang out with friends, play cornhole, and eat.
I have four dogs in Houston: a Yellow Lab named Ellie, a Black Lab named Bandit, a Boxador named Smokey, and a Pomeranian mix named Bengie. I have had dogs all my life.
I grew up in League City, Texas and I played baseball for a year at Sam Houston State and then transferred to play at UT Dallas. I am currently enrolled in my final class at UTD and then I will be a college graduate.
Woohoo! Go Austin!
I had a couple of friends that told me about Wag! and the pandemic had just started and I needed to make some money. I absolutely love dogs so I thought it would be a great fit.
I wanted a job that I would enjoy doing that I could work when I wanted. I love dogs so I thought it would be the perfect fit for me and I have loved every second of it.
I am an avid golfer and I also love to do puzzles in my free time as well.
I love the dogs. Dogs are by far my favorite animal and I love getting to meet the new ones. I also love getting to interact with the pet owners as well and making them feel like they ger value when I walk their dogs.
I love University Park. There are so many dogs on Wag! there and it is so easy to get around.
The advice I would give to a new Wag! Dog Walker is to not get disappointed when you just start out getting declined. Make sure to take as many on-demands as you can and then you can get repeat clients. Once you have more dog walks under your belt, with a good rating, it is much easier to pick up dog walks that aren't in demand.
The amount of food that I can eat.
A big thank you to Austin for sharing his story with us and providing pawsome care to the canines of Dallas. We're blessed to have dependable Pet Caregivers like Austin on our platform. If you're in the area, book a dog walk or a drop-in session with Austin. Not a resident of Texas? Find a dog walker near you and discover what everyone's barking about!
