Overview

The festive season is all about curling up on a cozy couch with your feline friend. Whether you're celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, orKwanzaa, there's no better way to spend this magical time of year.

One of the best ways to get yourself in the holiday spirit is to watch some of your favorite Christmas movies. But how do you keep your kitty engaged with one of your festive favorites?

We've rounded up 5 of the best holiday movies to watch with your cat, so you can plan the perfect holiday movie marathon.

Christmas with the Kranks

Christmas with the Kranks might not be a classic holiday flick, but it offers a few good laughs and is a blast to the past for many Millennials. It follows Luther and Nora Krank as they prepare for their first Christmas as empty nesters. They decide to spurn Christmas and spend the money they save on a Caribbean cruise — but things go wrong when their Christmas-loving neighbors get involved.

Your festive feline will love watching Muffles, a white Persian cat owned by Krank's neighbors, Walt and Bev. It'll be interesting to see how your cat reacts to seeing a fellow feline frozen in ice while watching this goofy Christmas caper.

Batman Returns

Batman Returns takes place over the festive period, and while it may not seem like a classic Christmas movie with cats, it's one of the best. This Tim Burton adaptation sees Batman (Michael Keaton) take on the Penguin (Danny DeVito) in a wacky winter wonderland.

There are tons of cats in this flick, as it features Catwoman in her finest on-screen iteration. Your tiny tiger will love watching Michelle Pfeiffer slink her way across rooftops. There's also plenty of caterwauling from Catwoman's clowder, which will grab your feline's attention.

A Gift from Bob

A Gift from Bob is one of the best recent holiday movies with cats. The movie centers around a homeless busker named James who befriends a street cat called Bob. The two are inseparable, but James' life is turned on its head when he finds himself at the center of an animal welfare complaint just before Christmas.

This heartfelt movie is based on a true story that teaches valuable lessons about homelessness and drug addiction. James' ginger tabby will win your heart, and A Gift from Bob is ideal for pet parents who love cheesy Christmas movies.

Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever

Check out Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever if you're looking for an outlandish Lifetime movie to watch with your cat this Christmas. This flick is essentially a feature-length meme centering around internet icon Grumpy Cat. The movie is pretty simple, with Grumpy Cat being adopted from a mall pet shop by a little girl who can understand what Grumpy Cat says.

Aubrey Plaza voices Grumpy Cat, and she does a great job portraying this grouchy feline. Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever is self-aware, weird, and constantly breaks the fourth wall. It's ideal if you're looking for a Christmas movie to watch with your cat that doesn't take itself too seriously.

An American Tail

An American Tail is the perfect Hanukkah movie to watch with your cat. Produced by Steven Spielberg, An American Tail was one of the finest animated movies of its generation. It follows a family of Russian-Jewish mice, the Mousekewitzs, who plan to emigrate to New York.

On the journey, Fievel Mousekewitz gets lost and sets off on his own adventure to America. An American Tail opens with Hanukkah celebrations and is a fun watch for all ages during the Festival of Lights. Plus, your mouser will enjoy stalking the squeaky Fievel across the screen as he navigates NYC.
