Introduction
The Dark Knight. The Caped Crusader. The World’s greatest detective. Batman. It does not matter how you know him, the point is that you know him. Batman has been such an intrinsic part of pop culture, that it is useless to try and ignore him. He has been an icon for children everywhere, a hero who leapt off the page and onto the silver screen. His universe is one full of monsters and villains, and yet we would still want to be a part of it. Where would you find better inspiration when it comes to naming your precious pup?
Dogs With Batman Inspired Names In Pop Culture
You may not know this, but Batman has a large family. They are not all related to him, of course, but rather they are people who joined in his fight against crime at some point in the story. There is Batgirl, Bat Mite, Robin, and much more over the years. It would also make sense then, that they would have a Bat-hound. In comes Ace, the wonder dog and the Bat-Hound himself. It all started when Ace’s owner, an engraver, was kidnapped by a group of thugs. Ace fought bravely to rescue his master, but unfortunately, they overpowered him. He managed to wow Robin with his bravery.
Bruce Wayne figured that someone might miss such a loyal dog, so he put an ad in the paper that included Ace’s distinctive diamond-shaped birthmark on his forehead. By the time Ace endeared himself to the Dark Knight, he was afraid that people would link him back to Bruce Wayne and figure out the connection. Thankfully, Robin came up with a cunning plan! How do superheroes best disguise themselves? With a mask, of course! Ace got his own mask and bat logo on his collar.
In time, Batman, Ace, and Robin saved Ace’s owner and Ace had to go home. But his story did not end there. Ace was such a popular addition to the team, and much too useful to be left out, that his master would occasionally lend him to “Bruce Wayne”. This meant that Ace could go on epic adventures, but still return home to his beloved master. Finally, Ace joined the Bat-family permanently when his owner got a job that required him to travel. It was a bittersweet moment for Ace, but not for fans. At last this cherished canine superhero could be a permanent superhero!
What followed was nothing short of legendary. Ace went on adventures that most comic book readers could only dream of. He helped thwart super-villains, stopped thieves and save Gotham. He fought valiantly alongside Batman and the rest of the Bat-family. His trusty senses and incredible tracking skills were invaluable to the team, and he even saved Batman a few times. In the newer comics, Ace is shown as being very affectionate toward his master, Batman/Bruce Wayne, and the feelings are returned. After, all who wouldn’t love a dog like that? There is no doubt that Ace has earned his spot in pop culture.
Batman Inspired Dog Name Considerations
The Batman universe has been going strong for decades. We have seen countless backstories and new villains and allies popping up ever so often. The point is, the Batman universe is massive. There are hundreds of supporting characters to the Caped Crusader. We have side-kicks, love interests and of course enemies. In fact, Batman is known for having some of the best enemies. His arch rival is the Joker himself, and you do not get much more interesting than that. It would take you weeks to swim through all the available names. In the meantime, your new dog will get used to some other non-Batman related name. This is too good of an opportunity to miss.
That is why we have swum through the extensive Batman arc to bring you the very best list of names to consider. If it is not on this list, it probably is not worth your consideration. We chose names from the best characters (and they are not always good people) with the greatest stories and most interesting characteristics. Villains, love interests, side-kicks, if they have a good name, they are featured here. Consider your pet's personality. Is he quirky, or a little on the dark side? Is he always looking out for others, or a bit of a one man show? Take his special characteristics in stride and maybe his color, too. Match them with a Batman character! Go on, make your dog a part of the iconic Batman story.
