Sea Shore Townhouses may not sit directly on the seashore, but this small townhouse community is only one block from the ocean on Ridgewood Avenue and sits across the street from the Cape Winds Resort. One of the advantages of being one block from the beach has to be the amount of chilly winter wind the resorts block!

The majority of places for you to shop and eat here in Cape Canaveral can be found along A1A. You can find a Publix Supermarket, several small local stores, and a selection of local and chain restaurants. If you want anything more than this, your best bet is to go south and take the causeway over the Banana River where you will find a Walmart. Keep going and it will take you to the Merritt Island Square Mall! When you have this many places to go shopping, you should be able to find everything you and your family need.

Even though Ridgewood Avenue here is not a major highway or business route, it is still a significant thoroughfare feeding the many beachfront and off-beach condos and residential communities. During the morning and evening rush hours, traffic here can be exceptionally hectic. While A1A is the main route to the cruise line terminals, these do tend to add to traffic all around as people try to find ways to circumvent the congestion.

As both a residential and a tourist area, you and your dog are likely to experience a significant amount of pedestrian traffic. When you mix heavy vehicular traffic with a large amount of pedestrians roaming, things can become challenging for your dog. Even if your dog is used to this much noise, traffic, and to this many people, you should always use a short leash that gives you more control. Even the best-behaved dogs can be startled by an air horn or the sound of an accident!

One problem many dog owners living in Cape Canaveral find is that there isn't much in the way parks within walking distance, no matter where you and your dog live. Luckily, there are a few small city parks that at least give you enough room to play and get in a little exercise. All parks in the City of Cape Canaveral are dog-friendly, providing you keep your dog on a leash. Unfortunately, the beach is off limits with the exception of a few areas to the south in Cocoa Beach.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive over A1A and back towards the mainland, you might find the Ulumay Wildlife Sanctuary worth checking out. The sanctuary covers over 436 acres and has a trail that can be used to access the waterways if you want to fish or look for birds. Alternatively, you and your pup can simply use the trail for hiking.
