Cleggmoor is a residential area, south of the Oceana of Cocoa Beach condominium complex. While the vast majority of the homes in this region are single-family, there are a few townhouses in the northernmost blocks between 8th Street and 9th Street. The community sits in an area of town where the peninsula begins to become narrower before Crescent Beach and Patrick Air Force Base. The good news is that you live within the boundaries of the beach where dogs are permitted and you are only a five-minute walk from the sand and surf.

While there aren't any shopping amenities within walking distance, you can walk to the Minuteman Causeway in less than half an hour with your dog. Along with a number of eateries you can grab a bite to eat from, ten minutes to the north is the West Cocoa Beach Causeway where you will find a shopping center anchored by a Winn-Dixie supermarket.

With A1A running through the middle of the community, you should expect to deal with a significant amount of traffic along with the noise it creates along this vital stretch of highway. On the eastern boundary of the neighborhood is South Atlantic Avenue, the other half of the bustling highway that runs from Key West up to the Georgia state line.

While the east-west roads in the community lack sidewalks for you to walk your dog on, both sides of A1A do have them. The pathway on the east side South Atlantic has been built extra-wide to accommodate more pedestrian traffic and, instead of running straight, it meanders back and forth to take the boredom out of your walks. Be sure you keep your dog on a short leash in case something should startle them and cause them to behave uncharacteristically. The terrain may be flat but that doesn't mean it's entirely safe.

There is one park nearby that should take you and your pooch less than 20 minutes to find. The Ramp Road Park has a public boat ramp for small boats like kayaks and paddle boats. There are public restrooms, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, and acres of grass for you and your dog to run about on. Your dog must be on a short leash and you are required to pick after them. If you don't, you could face significant fines!

Less than a ten-minute drive to the north is the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park with a little under three-quarters of an acre dedicated to fenced-in areas for small and large dogs where they can run around off-leash. There are water hoses to help keep the dogs hydrated, lots of shade, and plenty of chairs for you to relax on while your dog runs off with the rest of the pups for a little canine fun.
