Crestview Acres is mostly a residential area consisting of a mobile home park, townhouses, and apartments along North Fiske Boulevard. The borders of the neighborhood also include Bracco Park and the water retention ponds feeding the wastewater treatment facility. Living in this region puts you very close to both US-1 and Dixon Boulevard, two bustling roads filled with businesses on both sides.
When you need to restock the fridge, pantry, or dog food bin, there are several excellent choices within a short driving distance. These include a Tractor Supply Company, a Sav-a-Lot grocery store, and Harvey's Supermarket on the corner of Dixon and Clearlake Road. If all of these stores do not offer what you are looking for, there is a Walmart Supercenter at the northern end of Clearlake Road where you should be able to find everything your family needs, including the one with the waggly tail that never stops.
North Fiske Road is a bustling street fed by several vast residential areas along its entire length. As you might expect with so many working family homes, this road is going to be bustling during rush hour. Luckily, there is a sidewalk running along both sides for you and your dog to go walking on that will keep you safe from the traffic. However, you should still plan to avoid going for walks during the busiest times of the day. The noise might cause your dog to behave uncharacteristically.
Once the traffic has calmed down, you can cross North Fiske and use the various residential neighborhoods to extend your walks. Since the ground is flat, the two of you will need to substitute distance for the workout that hills would give you. For a short, fun walk, you can head north to Dixon Boulevard where you can grab a cold drink before continuing on your walk.
Dogs were never designed to walk on pavement and their paw pads can be easily damaged by the rough surface of paved sidewalks. To provide your pampered pooch with something more comfortable, the waterways in Bracco Park have trails running around them that allow you to choose how far you walk based on the number of lakes you go around. These trails and the grass around them make for a great place to stroll.
If you prefer a fenced-in dog park, the nearest one is Barks and Recreation to the south on Pluckebaum Road. This dog park is part of a much larger green space that includes a vast lake surrounded by grass that you and your pooch can use to take long walks around the water. When you are ready, the dog park offers sections for small and large breeds equipped with water fountains for thirsty pups and shade to keep you cool.
