Diamond Square is neither a diamond nor a square! It is, in fact, a large section of Cocoa running from Rosa L. Jones Drive to the south to School Street on the north side. Within the bounds of this massive community, there are multiple residential areas, a major business roadway, and the city's public works, along with several businesses. The majority of the residential sectors are typically suburban with large yards, older homes, and in some cases, there are even sidewalks for you and your dog to use.

When you need a few groceries, the nearest store is Town & Country Grocery, but if you need more than a few simple items, you have several other options just ten minutes away. These include the Walmart Supercenter on Clearlake Road and a Publix on US-1. If you need a pet supply store, there is a Pet Supermarket over the causeway in Merritt Island that carries everything your dog should need.

Within all the different residential sectors of this area, most of the homes enjoy suburban life at its best. They have larger than average yards, plenty of shade trees, and places for you and your dog to run around in. These areas tend only to be bustling with traffic during morning and evening rush hours, giving you plenty of time to go for a walk with your pooch.

Unfortunately, the entire community straddles West King Street, one of the busiest highways in town. Along with dozens of stores and businesses running up and down both sides of the road, it is also one of two causeways that go all the way to the beach across both the Indian and Banana Rivers. This is not a road anyone would recommend walking along with your dog. The heavy traffic, noise, and exhaust smell could prove to be overwhelming, leading to uncharacteristic behavior in your canine companion.

There is only one city park within Diamond Square. This is Provost Park, but it does have lots of grass for you and your pup to run around on to burn off a little steam. You will also find that there are several large areas of open grass where the two of you might find room to play. Along with these areas, there are several areas of woods as well where you might find more than a few trails to explore.

Just south of Rosa L. Jones Dr. and on Pluckebaum Road is the Barks and Recreation dog park, sitting on a vast area of grass, woods, and a lake for the two of you to walk around. When you are ready to let your pooch run around without a leash, the dog park offers two separate fenced-in zones. Each section has a water fountain and plenty of shade for you to relax under.
