Pine Grove Park is a mixed community with businesses along both sides of West King Street and residential areas to the south. While most of the residences in the area are single-family houses, on Jackson Street, there is one large apartment complex. The area is mostly typical suburbia with modest homes and yards that are perfect for raising a family and having a family dog to go for long walks with.

It's a simple fact that if you want to keep living, you need to have access to amenities such as grocery stores, clothing, household supplies, and food and supplies for that furball who won't stop stealing your socks. Within ten minutes of your home, there is a Save-a-Lot grocery store, a farm and feed store, a Walmart Supercenter, and many other stores where you can find just about anything you need to keep your entire family happy and satisfied.

Pine Grove Park is your typical suburban neighborhood in that the houses are close together but still have nice yards, the residential streets have no sidewalks in some areas for you and your dog to walk along, and there are both morning and evening rush hours to deal with. Taking your dog out for walks during these times can be dangerous as many drivers are paying attention to the bustling traffic rather than keeping an eye out for people and pups.

Try to stick to the sidewalks where you can and use a short leash for your walks. A short leash is typically no more than six feet long. A solid leash like this will give you more control in case something should startle your pooch. Luckily, the terrain in this neighborhood is amenable to walking and shouldn't pose much of an issue for people and pets of all ability levels.

To the south of the community is just what you and your dog need the most: a large lake with plenty of grass around it for you to walk on. There is a trail around the lake you can use and, if you are feeling energetic, you can walk around the lake to the Barks and Recreation dog park.

The dog park has a vast fenced in area that is divided into two zones designed to keep the big and little dogs separate. What you are likely to find here is that many people with very well-behaved bigger breeds will go into the small dog area to get away from the rambunctious crowd over in the big dog section. Along with tons of room to run around in, there are water fountains for the dogs and plenty of shade for dog owners to relax in while the playful pups run off and socialize.
