Sunset Park is a one street neighborhood. The houses here are a little older, but for the most part, are well-kept. Unlike many of the newer subdivisions where trees are a little scarce, both sides of Olive Street have plenty of shade trees.
When the time comes to go shopping, it's going to be by car as there aren't many stores within walking distance. However, you are within a ten-minute drive of several major supermarkets and stores. Among these are a Walmart Supercenter, a Publix, and a Sav-a-Lot, all of which carry a wide selection of foods for your furry friend. There is a large park virtually across the street where the two of you can go for long walks and you have a spectacular view of the Indian River from anywhere on Olive Street. These amenities make it a fantastic place to venture with your canine companion!
Sunset Park sits between two bustling roads, the first of which is Forrest Avenue. There are numerous commercial businesses along this road, keeping it busy all day long. Like most of the streets in the area, rush hours can be a beast.
US-1 has always been a busy highway as it runs down virtually the entire east coast. The only time of day it is quiet is during the wee hours of the morning. You may find US-1 quiet enough to walk your dog in early hours of the morning, but if you wait until rush hour, the traffic noise might prove to be too much for your pup.
However, there is one more road with a wide sidewalk the two of you can make good use of. The sidewalk along Indian River Road runs for miles in either direction and has plenty of shade trees to keep the sun off your neck as you go for your daily walks.
Your first option for green space in this region is the riverbank on the east side of Indian River Road. The wide grass berm runs for miles in either direction and offers a spectacular view of the Indian River and the many colorful boats cruising along. As you walk along, there are plenty of shade trees to help keep you cool. Your pooch is sure to enjoy the chance to go for a walk on the grass.
On the west side of US-1 is Bracco Park. This park covers a vast area and includes three of the five large retention ponds put here by the city. The ponds have paved paths leading around each lake and are connected to each other. You and your pup can choose the number of lakes you walk around to add more length to your walks. Work your way up to all three lakes and go off-road and enjoy the grass around the other two!
