Adams Townhomes sit along Ridgewood Avenue at the intersection with Harrison Avenue, less than half a block from the beach. Living this close to the beach and in the middle of a strip of condos, the area is mostly artificial with the exception of the sandy coast. On the west side of Ridgewood Avenue are a number of residential areas where you and your dog can go walking.
Shopping is a different story as you won't find anything nearby. The nearest grocery store is the Publix in Cornerstone Plaza to the west. The rest of the shopping district is a little further south all along the West Cocoa Beach Causeway and over the river in Merritt Island. Here, you will find a Walmart Supercenter and, if you venture a bit further, the Merritt Island Mall and a large selection of stores and restaurants to check out with your family.
What is the terrain like in Adams Townhomes?
The Adams Townhomes sit along Ridgewood Avenue, the main north-south road on the east side of town where most of the condos and hotels can be found. As you might imagine, the traffic along this stretch of road tends to be busy all day long. Not only will there be a significant amount of tourist traffic, but there will be the morning and evening rush hours to deal with along with school buses, delivery vehicles, and general local traffic.
The only good news is that the sidewalk on the east side of Ridgewood Avenue has a wide paved sidewalk for the two of you to use since you can't walk on the beaches with your dog. If your dog doesn't like walking close to this much traffic, you can cross to the other side of Ridgewood and take your walks on the sidewalks in that area instead. You are less likely to run into heavy traffic during most of the day and the terrain is easy to navigate.
How many greenways are there in Adams Townhomes?
All city parks are open to dogs as long as they are on a leash in Cape Canaveral. If you walk one block to the east on Harrison Avenue, it will take you to Sandpiper Park where there is a little room for you and your dog to walk around on the grass. Alternatively, you can go up the block to the Canaveral City Park. In this park there are baseball fields and large areas of grass.
A three-minute drive to the north will take you to Cherie Down Park where you will find lots of parking, public restrooms, and a vast area of grass While this park does offer beach access, dogs are not permitted on the beaches in Cape Canaveral.
If you want to be able to take your fluffball for walks on the coast, you'll have to go to Cocoa Beach where dogs are allowed with the exception of a few restricted areas.
