Wag! Walkers know Breezeway Townhouses
The Breezeway Townhouses sit on the north side of Adams Avenue between North Atlantic and Poinsettia. Each unit has a small fenced in backyard and behind them is a large vacant lot covered in grass and shade trees. Along the south side of Adams, there is a sidewalk you and your pup can use for your daily walks.
Along North Atlantic, you will find a few small strip malls, stores, and restaurants, but if you need to do your weekly grocery shopping, you would be better off driving south for ten minutes to the West Cocoa Beach Causeway. Here, you will find shopping centers, a Winn-Dixie supermarket, and, across the river, a Walmart Supercenter and the Merritt Island Mall.
The one thing most dog owners would like to be able to do is to take their dogs out for walks on the beach. Unfortunately, you'll have to do so at Cocoa Beach as dogs are not permitted along the dunes in Cape Canaveral.
What is the terrain like in Breezeway Townhouses?
Living this close to North Atlantic Avenue and the few strip malls this far north, you should expect there to be a lot of traffic during the day, especially during morning and evening rush hours. However, if you stick to walking on the sidewalks between A1A and North Ridgewood Avenue, you should be able to enjoy your walks in relative safety. With the addition of relatively flat terrain which shouldn't hamper your walks any, this area makes for a decent destination for pups and people of any ability level.
With the streets laid out in a grid pattern around this neighborhood, you should have no problem with navigating your way from one end of the area to the other. Just keep an eye out for the vehicles that do happen to cross your path. Sticking along the sidewalks will keep you out of the way and on a path back home once you're done.
How many greenways are there in Breezeway Townhouses?
With the beach off-limits, you have no choice but to use the public parks if you want something beyond pavement to walk your dog along. The city has opened most of the parks to dogs and has installed dog waste bag dispensers and receptacles for your use. The city, however, requires your dog to be on a leash when you are in these parks.
The nearest park is five blocks to the east. You can walk to Cherie Down Park or, thanks to the large parking lot, you can drive! The park offers direct access to the beach for humans only, picnic pavilions for everyone, public restrooms, and a vast area of grass with plenty of shade trees for the two of you to run around under on particularly hot days. Even though you cannot take your dog on the beach, the rest of your family can go out and enjoy the surf, sand, and sunshine.
