The Caneveral Sunrise Townhomes can be found on Canaveral Beach Boulevard, close to where it intersects with East Central Boulevard. This is a mixed residential area of townhomes, single-family homes, and apartments. Those who live here are a mix of locals, snowbirds, and tourists, keeping the area fresh and full of new people. The townhouses offer fenced in backyards for each tenant with just enough space for your dog to go out and take care of business.
There is a small strip mall to the south on Canaveral Boulevard with a restaurant and a small market and deli. Beyond this, you will have to travel south on North Atlantic Boulevard to find any bigger stores where you can fill the fridge and the dog food container.
One word of advice is that the beaches in the City of Cape Canaveral are off-limits to dogs, unless they are service animals. Don't get caught walking your pup on the beach as the fine is pretty significant!
This is a residential area with two extremely busy traffic periods, school buses running during the school year, and two major divided roads running through it. During the rest of the day, you should still expect to see some traffic on both East Central Avenue and Canaveral Beach Boulevard, but if you want to avoid the bulk of this congestion, the best thing you can do is get up early and take your dog walking before the morning rush hour starts.
Most of the streets nearby have sidewalks for you and your pooch to use for your daily walks with a grassy divider. Your pup will quickly learn to appreciate the grass as the weather warms up and the pavement starts to become painfully hot.
Keep in mind that you will be walking in a residential area where you are likely to come across children at play or mothers with strollers. Be sure you keep your dog under control by using a short leash!
While the beaches may be off limits, most of the city parks are opened to dogs as long as they are on a leash. The city has even gone so far as to install dog waste bag dispensers and receptacles in most of the parks! Be a responsible dog owner and clean up after your pooch if they leave any surprises along the way.
If you are interested in finding an off-leash dog park for your pooch to run around in with other pups, you have no choice but to cruise down to the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park. The park offers separate areas for large and small dogs with water hoses and plenty of seating to relax on while your dogs get together and socialize. There is even a rinse station for you to use in the entry section to cool your pooch down and rinse off the dust and dirt.
