Wag! Walkers know Cape Gardens
Cape Gardens is an L-shaped townhouse community that sits on King Neptune Lane and Evelyn Court, both of which connect directly to A1A and Astronaut Boulevard. While the units may not sit directly on what is arguably the busiest road in Cape Canaveral, the traffic noise will still have an effect on your daily life until you have time to adjust.
Being this close to the northern end of town, you won't find much in the way of shopping, but there is a small selection of restaurants, at least. For grocery stores, pet supplies, and most of the other things your family needs, you will have to go south on A1A. Before you reach the West Cocoa Beach Causeway, you will find a Publix Supermarket. If you keep going, there is a shopping center at the intersection and, if you go east on the causeway, you will first reach a Walmart Supercenter and then the Merritt Island Mall.
What is the terrain like in Cape Gardens?
No matter how you look at it, A1A is a bustling stretch of highway. Along this road, there are numerous vast parking lots for the different cruise line passengers to use. With the constant coming and going of the various ships, the traffic on this highway never seems to slow down. While there is a sidewalk running along both sides of it, if your dog is not used to this much traffic, you may be better off keeping your walks within the various condominium communities to the west. As an alternative, you can try getting out early in the morning before rush hour begins.
In this area, you can expect some fairly flat terrain, making it easy for pups and people of all ability levels to get around. You won't struggle for space to wander. Just exercise caution around some of the busier streets which can be slightly dangerous.
How many greenways are there in Cape Gardens?
In the City of Cape Canaveral, dogs are not allowed to be on the beach, which robs both you and your dog of the opportunity to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf!. If you want to take your dog for walks on the sandy dunes, head south to Cocoa Beach where the city permits plenty of puppy pals.
However, this being said, you can take your dog into the city parks where pet waste bags and receptacles are available. However, you must keep your pup on a leash at all times and pick up any "packages" they leave behind. There are several of these parks nearby, including Patriots Park Cape Canaveral, Banana River Park, and Manatee Sanctuary Park.
If you want more space to stretch your legs, there is the Ulumay Wildlife Sanctuary where you will find a long man made trail running along the waterway that you can use to go for hikes and numerous other small trails that take you around the 436-acre sanctuary.
