Top dog walkers in Cape Villas
Wag! Walkers know Cape Villas
Cape Villas is a series of townhouses on Jackson Avenue, close to Ridgewood Avenue. They sit in a heavily residential area close to the City Center Park and Sandpiper Park. Like most townhouse communities in Cape Canaveral, there is very little in the way of a backyard for your dog to enjoy. There might be just enough room for Fido to take a quick restroom break, but that's about all you get!
One issue that you will have to deal with living here is a distinct lack of shopping nearby. Most of the shopping in the area can be found to the west on Astronaut Boulevard or to the south on the West Cocoa Beach Causeway. Along these roads are grocery stores, pharmacies, lots of restaurants, and shopping centers. If you need a store like Walmart, there is a supercenter over in Merritt Island along with the Merritt Island Mall and even more stores and restaurants to choose from.
What is the terrain like in Cape Villas?
Being sandwiched between Ridgewood Drive and Magnolia means that you are between two very busy north-south routes on this side of the peninsula. During the rush hours, these roads tend to become congested and, to make things worse, Magnolia has very little in the way of sidewalks for the two of you to use. When you don't have sidewalks to walk on, you are left walking on the streets with your dog. This only adds to the risk and requires that you take extra precautions like using a short leash that lets you maintain better control of your dog in case something startles them. Luckily, the sidewalks are flat with no elevation changes to make things even more difficult.
The other thing you have to deal with in a residential area is the number of pedestrians you may come across. The noise from crowds of strangers can make your dog very nervous. A short leash will help to keep them feeling secure.
How many greenways are there in Cape Villas?
The one great thing about living in Cape Canaveral is that all city parks have been declared dog-friendly by an ordinance passed in 2018! The parks have doggy bag dispensers and waste receptacles for you to use, so be sure you do. You'll need to keep your dog on a leash as well.
The nearest parks are at the end of the street. Sandpiper Park sits on the corner of Magnolia and Harrison and offers a walking path in the shade, playground equipment for the kids, and a public pavilion with picnic tables for your use while you catch a local baseball game. On the same block is City Center Park and the Cape Canaveral Baseball Field. Between all three parks, they cover an entire city block and give the two of you plenty of room to run about and stretch your legs. If there are no games going on, the fields are open for you to play on!
